Clyne Parish School

I have just completed this fascinating commission to paint three murals for the former Clyne Parish School on the North edge of Brora.

The commission was by Brora and District Action Group (BaDAG).

The people are all previous residents of the area.  Brora Heritage Centre provided helpful photographs and artifacts to inform the paintings.  Crofter: Tommy Bowie (from a photo early 1960s).  A lady & baby whose names I don't know.  A boy from an old school photo (the school closed in early 1900s and was then converted into flats until the 1970s).  A lady from the brick works who I think is Kate-Ann McDonough (1931) and the miner is San Mackenzie (1960s).  A banner is due to be put up below the windows (which is why the figures are holding rope!).

This accompanies paintings completed by current Brora primary children both at school and at Brora Youth Club.  This includes the train in the photos and a sign on the south end of the village.
